The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria is a parastatal of the Federal Government of Nigeria which was established by the Act Cap. No143 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. This Council is the only regulatory body for all cadres of Nurses and Midwives in Nigeria.

The main objective of the NMCN is to ensure high quality of nursing and midwifery education in Nigeria, maintain a high standard of professional practice, and enforce discipline in the profession.

As an interested applicant willing to register to gain recruited or join the NMCN, you need to make sure you meet the requirements of the council before officially becoming a member. NMCN Registration Portal

The NMCN has just officially made it known that their registration portal is open for all who wish to register and be a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. The Management Board advises all candidates who want to be part of the council to tender their application form which is available online.

They have also made it known that before becoming one of their members, there are some requirements you need to meet and some qualifications they need to see in you. Some of the requirements will be provided below in the course of this article.

According to the objective of the council, the primary goal is to ensure high-quality Nursing and Midwifery education, maintain a high standard of professional practice, and enforce discipline within the profession.

Their functions are related to those of designing, implementing, and evaluating various Nursing educational programs of indexing, examination, monitoring standards of nursing practice in the country, registration, certification, and licensure of professional Nurses.

As an interested candidate, you can also search their portal for any information and even apply to be a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. The official website of the NMCN for any information or registration is www.nmcn.gov.ng.

 

How to Register for the NMCN

It is very easy to register to be part of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. Here are the guidelines you can easily follow to register and be part of the council.

The first thing you have to do is to log into their registration portal via www.nmcn.gov.ng using any browser of your choice

When the page is open, the next thing you need to do is to go to the Nurse Educators/Administrators on the page

When you there, you scroll down and you will see “Apply for registration”

You then click on the registration and the page will open, you can then supply all the documents needed such as your specialty, Specialty code, and Registration number.

When done, you then click on “Start Application”

How to Apply to the NMCN

Here are guidelines on how to apply to be a member of the NMCN. Do well to follow the guidelines step by step as it will help you make your application process smooth.

Note: All accredited Nursing Institutions and their admitted students are advised to visit www.nmcnnigeria.org or portal.nmcn.gov.ng to complete the application for examination and indexing.

As a candidate, you need to visit the Council site at portal.nmcn.gov.ng to initiate the appropriate application

When the page is open, you then get an online clearance to proceed with payment from your school clearance officer

The next thing to do is to proceed to make payment using available payment options on the portal.

Important notice to take note:

You are advised by the council to scan copies of the required documents/credentials that are to be uploaded in the recommended file format such as Jpeg, size, and dimension before you start your application.

Do well to proofread the entered information before you submit the application to your school officer for clearance.

Note that after applying, you might likely not be able to edit any wrongly spelled information on your application especially after clearance and payment are confirmed on the portal.
